Liverpool Biennial is delighted to be taking part in this year's LightNight celebrations.
LightNight is Liverpool’s one night arts festival – a time for visitors of all ages to come along and see the city illuminated with everything from large-scale light projections to live music, workshops, art and crafts and street performance. The festival also promotes the late-opening of exhibitions across the city centre, this year including Liverpool Biennial: The Stomach & the Port.
For one night, we see venues large and small, old and new stay open late to celebrate the incredible arts and culture on offer in Merseyside. Each year tens of thousands of people take the opportunity to try something new; see something different; step out of their comfort zone; or just spend time with friends and family.
LightNight is produced by Liverpool-based social enterprise Open Culture.
Liverpool Biennial LightNight Commission: Haroon Mirza
For LightNight, alongside our exhibitions staying open late, we will be premiering online a new commisson from Haroon Mirza. The three-part video work, Pathology in Three Parts (2021) includes a new choral performance The Three /\/\/’s (2021), which is an ongoing performance featuring Liverpool singers Anne Taft, Emma Bispham, Jennifer John, Steve Boyland and Tayo Aluko.
