Our full exhibition programme is now closed, but visitors can still enjoy groundbreaking art in person at FACT and Bluecoat until August & September.
Throughout May and June, Liverpool Biennial offered Relaxed Gallery Hours across select venues. These dedicated opening times were created specifically for visitors who may benefit from reduced lighting or sound levels. With the support of Dementia Friends and the National Autistic Society, we worked to put in place appropriate light, sound and foot traffic reductions. Our Relaxed Gallery Hour staff trained to a basic understanding of how people experience neurodiversity and dementia and were on-site to answer any questions regarding accessibility.
Relaxed Gallery Hours were created in addition to our public opening times and were reserved for visitors who would benefit from relaxed viewing conditions. We aimed to create an accessible environment for neurodiverse visitors, visitors who have Dementia or Alzheimer’s, and those who have sensory processing needs.
Implementations included: reduced foot fall, lower audio levels, softer lighting conditions and a trained member of staff on hand to support your visit.
Relaxed Gallery Hours took place between 10–11am or 6–7pm on select dates – one hour earlier or later than the general public exhibition access.
